الوصف

Book “Women’s War Stories: The Lebanese Civil War, Women’s Labor, and the Creative Arts” by Malek Abisaab, published by Syracuse University Press.

Official accounts of the Lebanese Civil War have largely written women out of the story, rarely engaging with the work they carried out or the art they created to make sense of a fractured country. This book grew out of a long-running oral history project that gathered women’s own accounts of the war, and organizes them around six chapters, each centered on a different group of women who labored or created during the conflict — through literature, performance, and film.

Rather than a single narrative, the book assembles a chorus of first-person “war stories,” letting the women themselves describe the pressures, the resistance, and the everyday work of surviving and creating meaning through fifteen years of violence.
