This novella, set against the backdrop of Palestinian politics, follows an unnamed young girl in a Palestinian family, exploring her world through her senses and everyday experiences. The minimalist narrative uses spare prose and a fragmented style to intensify the fleeting sensations of childhood and the underlying realities of conflict, such as the Sabra and Shatila massacre. The story is divided into sections named after senses: ‘Colors,’ ‘Silences,’ ‘Movement,’ and ‘Language,’ concluding with ‘the Wall’
